thumbnail Hello,

The centre-back has set his sights on a successful 2013-14 campaign, but realises the Nerazzurri will have to improve on a disastrous ninth placed finish from last season

Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia is full of ambition ahead of the 2013-14 campaign and is determined to return to the top as soon as possible.

The Nerazzurri fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea in the International Champions Cup pre-season tournament after a disappointing display.

And having had to settle for ninth spot in the Serie A table last term, the Italy international is confident they will do better in the new season under head coach Walter Mazzarri.

"We're aiming for the top again this season. That always has to be the target for Inter," the defender was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

"Mazzarri and his methods? He's come here with his own set of ideas, we're trying to follow them and get on with the job."

Ranocchia then briefly reflected on his side's loss against Jose Mourinho's Blues and stressed that Inter will have to improve.

"We played well in the first half but then we found it tough in second. We need to improve and make sure we don't repeat the mistakes we made."
