Sampdoria sporting director Carlo Osti has admitted that Andrea Poli is likely to continue his career at AC Milan as both clubs are in advanced talks over a summer transfer.
The midfielder, 23, has long been linked with a move to a bigger club and had also caught the attention of Juventus.
However, he seems destined to continue his career at Milan following Osti's latest comments on a potential summer move.
"We are in advanced talks with Milan over the transfer of Poli," the Sampdoria director said to Sportitalia.
"Things slowed down a bit because they had to make a decision about their coach, but things can now take off again. Poli deserves a club of the highest level."
Poli's current contract with Samp runs until June 2014, but the Genoa side are ready to cash in on the Italy international for €6.5 million (£5.5m).
