The 51-year-old head coach has hit back at critics and believes that the Partenopei are doing just as well as the top sides, but admitted that their next game will be tough
The Italian side have picked up 22 points from their opening 10 league games, which puts them third in the Serie A table, and their coach is pleased with their start.
“The statistics back us up, as we have seven more points than at this stage last season. Last term the Serie A leaders were on a par with us in Week 10,” Mazzarri told a press conference.
“I watch the other leagues and we are on a par with the best teams around, like Manchester City or Real Madrid. As far as I’m concerned, our campaign is on the right track.”
Napoli will host mid-table Torino on Sunday but the 51-year-old head coach does not think it will be an easy game because the visitors have an impressive away record.
"It’ll be a difficult match. Torino have a very particular way of keeping possession, so we must be very attentive.
"They haven’t lost away from home because they are good at wrecking the tempo of the opposition. It will require a lot of patience."
