Javier Zanetti has voiced his delight with Inter's 2-0 Serie A win over Chievo on Wednesday evening, and feels that they are on the right track following their fourth successive away victory.
Alvaro Pereira opened the scoring after 43 minutes of play, grabbing his first goal for the club, while Antonio Cassano put the match to bed in the second half and Zanetti believes Inter fully deserved the full three points.
"Great teams know how to respond when they hit a rough patch and that's exactly what we told ourselves - that we had to provide a response. That's our answer to the critics, on the pitch. We got our approach right," Zanetti stated to Inter Channel.
"We deserved this win over Chievo but it was tough going. The Bentegodi is always a difficult place to come to and Chievo know how to cause you problems."
Inter reverted to a back three for the match in a slight change of tactic for Andrea Stramaccioni's men and the Argentine veteran insists it is the right approach going forward despite taking time to adapt to the gameplan.
"We were playing with a new formation, we had to get to grips with a few things, but the early signs are good," he added.
"There's still work to be done but you can go about it more calmly after winning a game. Now we have to get a bit of consistency going, certainly at home."
Inter resume Serie A action on Sunday when they host Fiorentina.
