"It seemed like a dream, but, at one point, it looked as if we had him. The interest from Juventus changed the scenario, [however]."
Despite seeing the striker commit to a move to Juventus, Antonelli praised the player's professionalism, revealing that he personally called the club's president after the deal had been done.
"Having chosen Juve, he still phoned our president out of respect. He, and his agent, behaved in the right way," he added.
Bendtner spent last season on loan at Sunderland but will now head to Serie A after impressing for Denmark at Euro 2012.
Juventus had chased his Arsenal team-mate Robin van Persie earlier in the summer but saw the Dutchman complete a move to Manchester United.
