Inter omit Maicon from squad for Pescara clash amid Manchester City interest

The right-back could be on the move in the upcoming days after being excluded from the squad for the Nerazzurri's Serie A opener with Roberto Mancini reportedly keen on him
Maicon appears to be on his way out of Inter as head coach Andrea Stramaccioni has opted not to include the full-back in his squad for this weekend's Serie A opener against Pescara.

The 31-year-old is continually being linked with a move away from the Nerazzurri, with his agent claiming interest from Real Madrid, Manchester City and Chelsea earlier this week, though a move to the European champions is unlikely given their signing of Marseille right-back Cesar Azpilicueta.

Maicon did feature in the Europa League win over Vaslui on Thursday, but his exclusion from the squad for Sunday's encounter suggests a summer move could be on the horizon for the experienced defender.

Nevertheless, if it were down to new signing Antonio Cassano, Maicon would be going nowhere this summer as he hopes the right-back will stay put.

"I would be a happy man if Maicon remains at Inter," the former AC Milan forward said at a press conference on Saturday.

The defender joined Inter from Monaco in the summer of 2006 and has since made over 200 official appearances for the Giuseppe Meazza outfit.
