thumbnail Hello,

The Italy international seems to be ready to live up to expectations after a difficult 2011-12 season, and feels that the coach has played a big role in his recent resurrection

Inter defender Andrea Ranocchia has hailed the role of Andrea Stramaccioni in his return to top form, and has thanked the Nerazzurri boss for the faith shown in him.

The centre-back struggled throughout the 2011-12 season, but has impressed with some fine performances during pre-season ahead of the new campaign.

"How important has Stramaccioni been on this journey? A great deal, he's helped me an awful lot and he put his trust in me right from the start," Ranocchia was quoted as saying on the club's official website.

"Right from day one of the training camp I got off on the right foot, but I need to work and keep on working because we're only at the start.

"My team-mates at the back are also very important, and it makes things easier for defenders if the team is aggressive going forward."

Inter are currently preparing for their Serie A opener away against Pescara on Sunday.
