Lazio are looking to sign the defensive pair of Federico Balzaretti from Palermo and Brazilian centre-back Xandao, according to the Corriere dello Sport.

The Italy international performed admirably as the Azzurri reached the Euro 2012 final, and with the Rosanero not expected to challenge for European football next term, the capital club will hope to strike a bargain with the Sicilians, but could face competition from AC Milan.

Xandao meanwhile, was on loan at Sporting Lisbon last season, where he starred in their Europa League campaign, before they eventually lost to Athletic Bilbao in the semi-final.

The 24-year-old is currently owned by Desportivo Brasil, who will look for approximately €3 million (£2.4m) for the towering defender.

The Biancocelesti have already been busy in the transfer market this summer, capturing Ederson from Lyon, and have been linked heavily with Burak Yilmaz of Trabzonspor and Juventus' Milos Krasic.
