Catania have confirmed Rolando Maran as their new coach, following the departure of Vincenzo Montella for Fiorentina.The former Chievo defender, who led Serie B outfit Varese into this season's promotion play-offs, has penned a one-year contract with the Rosazzurri.
"Catania announces that it has assigned the technical responsibility of the first team for the 2012-13 season to coach Rolando Maran," a statement on the club's official website read. "The new technician will be officially presented to the media later this week."
Maran's move to Catania comes just a couple of days after Varese's 4-2 aggregate defeat by Sampdoria in the final of the second-tier promotion play-offs.
The appointment was confirmed only a matter of hours after Fiorentina had announced the arrival of Montella at the Artemio Franchi.
