The 65-year-old Czech, who is considered one of the most colourful characters in the Italian game, is expected to confirm his return to the Stadio Olimpico on SaturdayRoma general manager Franco Baldini has revealed that while there are still some minor details to be finalised, Zdenek Zeman will be the club's new boss.
Fabio Capello's former right-hand man met with the Pescara boss on Friday and is now confident that the Czech will soon be formally appointed as Luis Enrique's successor.
"I believe that we can rule out any surprises," Baldini told Roma Channel. "The affair will be concluded in a favourable manner.
"We had the chance to meet Zeman this morning [Friday]. I must thank the president of Pescara [Daniele Sebastiani], who made it possible for us to see him.
"We discussed everything about his possible return in detail but there are still some details to be defined.
"However, there is optimism regarding the success of the negotiations."
Zeman, who led Pescara to promotion to Serie A this season, previously enjoyed a two-year spell at the helm of the Giallorossi between 1997 and 1999.
