Inter have joined the race to sign Torino defender Angelo OgbonnaGoal.com has learned.

The Nerazzurri are determined to strengthen their rearguard after a disappointing season, and they see the 24-year-old as the perfect addition to their squad.

The Italy international is continually being linked with a move away from Torino, and AC Milan had appeared to be in pole position to bring the centre-back to San Siro this summer.

However, Inter are attempting to hijack their city-rivals' bid as they look to propose a part-exchange deal to Ogbonna's current employers.

Torino have set a €12 million asking price for the defender, but Inter are hoping to lower the Granata's demands by offering 50 per cent of Andrea Ranocchia's economic rights as well as the services of Philippe Coutinho on a one-year loan deal.

Ogbonna is a product of the Torino youth academy and has made over 100 official appearances for the Turin side, helping them win promotion to Serie A this term.

He has a contract with Torino until the summer of 2016.
