We want Luis Enrique to stay but he feels he is weighing down the players, reveals Roma's Sabatini

Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini has insisted that the club want Luis Enrique to remain in the Italian capital but conceded that the under-fire trainer now feels he has become a burden on his players.

After a shaky start to life under the Spaniard, the Giallorossi propelled themselves into contention for a place in next season's Champions League, but their form has deteriorated badly in recent weeks and Tuesday night's draw with Chievo all but ended their hopes of finishing third.

The pressure on Luis Enrique has continued to mount and while Sabatini retains the utmost faith in the former Barcelona man's abilities as a coach, he admits that the Roma boss is considering his future at the Stadio Olimpico.

"We continue to hope that he will remain because we know that he can produce great results as he is an honest, loyal, committed and competent man," the 56-year-old Italian told Sky Sport Italia.

"However, he must evaluate his situation and make the right decision also for his family. His uncertainty is determined by the fact that he thinks he has not received so much approval, and that this is weighing down the team.

"In football you should evaluate everything and we will do that. But we will wait untilthe end of the championship, which is in 10 days' time."

Roma's draw in Verona leaves them seventh in Serie A, six points behind third-placed Napoli with just two games remaining.
