Juventus have completed the signing of Martin Caceres on loan from Sevilla for the remainder of the season.

The Uruguay international, who enjoyed a previous spell with the Bianconeri during the 2009-10 season, passed a medical on Friday morning before sealing his return to Turin.

Juve have reportedly paid €1.5 million (£1.24m) to take Caceres on loan but retain the option to sign the player outright for €8m (£6.8m) in the summer.

Bianconeri boss Antonio Conte believes that the 24-year-old centre-half will prove a tremendous addition to his squad.

"We only had five defenders, so it was appropriate to make a purchase," the former Italy international said during his pre-game press conference for Saturday's clash with Udinese.

"He is a player who already knows the club, so it will take less time to insert him [into the squad].

"He arrives with humility, knowing that he is now a part of a team that has the best defence [in Serie A]."

The signing of Caceres, who has been capped 38 times by his country, means Juventus' pursuit of FC Porto's Colombian international Fredy Guarin has come to an end  with their being no room left in the squad due to Italian football's two non-EU players rule.

Although the signing of Caceres bolsters the Old Lady's defensive numbers, Goal.com understands it won't prompt Leonardo Bonucci to seek a move away from Turin before the close of the transfer window.
