Inter defender Lucio has urged the club to sign Sao Paulo playmaker Lucas and believes the youngster is better suited to Italian and European football than Santos striker Neymar.

The two youngsters are both highly rated and predicted to make the switch to one of Europe's elite clubs in the future, yet their international team-mate Lucio is in no doubt who he would rather see at San Siro.

"I know Lucas very well and Inter ought to run to sign him straight away. He is a wide attacker with a great deal of quality, all combined with exceptional pace. He always works hard in training and is a humble lad," the 33-year-old told Il Corriere dello Sport.

"I remember during Copa America training, he'd often face Dani Alves during games between ranks and it was always a fiery battle.

"I think Lucas is better suited to Italian and European football than Neymar."

The centre-back then spoke about his future and declared that he would like to end his career in his native Brazil.

"Sooner or later, I want to return to play in Brazil. In fact, I only played [regularly] for a year and a half in my country," he added.

Lucio also discussed his time in Germany - a period in his career he thoroughly enjoyed until Louis van Gaal arrived at Bayern Munich.

"I do not know whether I will choose to live here [Italy], Brazil or Germany [after I retire]. I must say that me and my family had a great time in Germany but then came [Louis] van Gaal," he concluded.
