The Argentine-born Italian international, who has led the line frequently for the Giallorossi this season, broke down in training at Trigoria and had to be stretchered offRoma could regret allowing Marco Borriello to leave on loan to Juventus after fellow forward Pablo Osvaldo suffered a muscular injury in training on Wednesday.
Less than 24 hours after Borriello’s move to Turin had been officially confirmed, Osvaldo broke down in a session at Trigoria.
"Osvaldo left the session early because of a suspected injury to the flexor muscles in his right thigh, the severity of which will be evaluated in the next 48 hours,” a statement on the Giallorossi’s official website read.
However, given that the Argentine-born Italy international had to be stretchered from the field, it appears likely that he will play no part in Sunday’s Serie A clash with Chievo at the Stadio Olimpico.
The 25-year-old striker has been in terrific form for Luis Enrique’s side this term, having already netted seven goals in 15 league appearances, though he was involved in a dressing-room bust-up with team-mate Erik Lamela after the defeat to Udinese at the end of November.
