Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has spoken with pride over the club's decision to bring experienced German striker Miroslav Klose to the side in the summer.
Klose joined the club on a free transfer after his contract with Bayern Munich expired, and the 33-year-old has made an impressive start to his career in Italy, scoring 10 goals in 17 appearances in all competitions.
Tare, a former forward for the club himself, believes Lazio pulled off a major coup in securing the services of Klose.
"We have already nicknamed him 'Emperor Klose'. He has a mentality that is absolutely about winning. [The nickname] is in appreciation of the way he finds motivation to train during the week and the self-sacrifice he has on the field," the Albanian told Tuttosport.
"The president believed in me to follow through with this to the end. It was not easy because Klose is of a certain age and last year he had not played regularly for Bayern. Yes, I feel a bit proud because we were the only ones who believed in Miro's potential."
Lazio are in action on Wednesday evening, when they will be looking to defeat Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League as they attempt to progress to the knockout stages.
