Thiago Silva has publicly called for Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez to complete his protracted move to AC Milan if he has the desire to add to his trophy haul.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia on Friday, the Brazilian defender believes his South American compatriot, who has been heavily tipped for a transfer to San Siro in recent weeks, could prove to be the elusive key towards continued success for the Serie A champions.

"If he wants to play for a big club that wants to win it all then he has to come to us," said Silva. "We'll await him with open arms and he would certainly make the difference.

"Tevez is a quality player. Any team in the world would want him, and if AC Milan manage to sign him then he would make the difference for us."

Silva was also quizzed on whether his and Tevez's international rivalry could affect their relationship on the pitch for Massimiliano Allegri's side, but he was adamant that it would not impact on their club commitments.

"It exists and it's very big, but only on the pitch once the game starts. Otherwise we're friends," explained the Brazilian.

AC Milan travel to Bologna on Sunday, as they strive to keep the pressure on Juventus at the Serie A summit.
