According to the French media, the Brazilian international recently spent three days in the Eternal City at the expense of the Giallorossi, fueling transfer speculation
Lyon’s Michel Bastos is being linked with a move to Roma once again after the emergence of reports in France suggesting he visited the Italian capital during the recent international break.
According to RMC Sport, the Brazilian’s three-day stay at one of the city’s top hotels was paid for by the Serie A side.
Bastos was heavily tipped for a summer switch to Juventus but the move never materialised, and there was even speculation towards the end of the transfer window that Roma had entered the race for his signature.
The player’s agent denied any contact from the Giallorossi but it would now appear that the Stadio Olimpico outfit have retained an interest in the winger.
However, Bastos recently signed a new two-year extension with Lyon which ties him to the club until 2015 and he recently expressed his desire to remain in France for the foreseeable future.
"I feel good at Lyon, my family too,” he told RMC Sport earlier this week. “We even bought a house. Why not stay much longer at the club?”
Bastos, who has been capped 10 times by Brazil, has proved a hit at the Stade de Gerland since arriving from Lille two years ago.
