Miroslav Klose has revealed that he turned down a number of lucrative offers from Russian clubs to join Lazio.

The 33-year-old striker was very much a man in demand this summer following the expiration of his contract with Bayern Munich and eventually decided to join Lazio - even though there was more money to be made elsewhere.

“I could have moved to Russia, earned more money and felt more relaxed,” the Germany international told Corriere dello Sport. “But I chose another option and joined Lazio.

“I’m hungry for football and really want new victories. I need new challenges and Lazio is a great challenge for me.”

Klose has already established himself as a fan favourite at the Stadio Olimpico, having netted six times in 11 Serie A appearances so far this season, and recently expressed his desire to finish his career at Lazio.
