Roma's Miralem Pjanic has declared that the minimum objective for the club is to qualify for next season's Champions League.
The Bosnian midfielder, who scored his first goal for the Giallorossi against Lecce at the weekend, has laid down the gauntlet for his team-mates while also expecting himself to play a large role in the task at hand.
"Our goal is to at least qualify for the next edition of the Champions League and I hope to contribute a lot more goals to the cause," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 21-year-old has already experience some disappointment this season on the international front after his Bosnia and Herzegovina side were knocked out of the race to qualify for Euro 2012 following a 6-2 aggregate loss to Portugal in the play-offs.
"I had a difficult week after my national team were eliminated from the European Championship [finals], but I am positive and look forward to the future," he concluded.
Pjanic moved to Roma from Lyon in the summer for a reported fee of €11 million (£9m) and he has been vital for the Giallorossi, making nine appearances and providing six assists, with the club now sitting fifth in the Serie A table.
