The goalkeeper was involved in an ugly incident with the Brazilian defender during Saturday's encounter but fortunately has shown encouraging signs after being taken to hospital
Roma goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg has regained consciousness after clashing with Inter defender Lucio during the sides’ goalless draw in Serie A on Saturday, reports Sky Sport Italia.
The former Ajax custodian had lost consciousness for a period, as only 15 minutes into the match hie received a blow to the next in a challenge with the centre-back as they both collided while going for a 50-50 ball.
However, the news channel has since reported that he has woken up and is communicating once more.
Stekelenburg underwent a CAT scan at the hospital shortly after being admitted and the signs seem to be encouraging, which will delight Roma coach Luis Enrique, as he should have his first-choice goalkeeper back in contention soon.
