The 21-year-old Bosnia international, said "anything can happen" on Tuesday when asked whether a move to Serie A was in the pipeline, and now the French club's director of sport, Bernard Lacombe, has confirmed talks have progressed, claiming it is down to Roma to take the move forward and ensure the midfielder agrees terms.
"There is an agreement with the Roma directors and ourselves regarding the mode of transfer," Lacombe told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
"But, I do not want to say more on the deal for now as Miralem still needs to accept a transfer."
As well as a deal for Pjanic, Roma have also been linked with a last-gasp move for Real Madrid's Fernando Gago, with Palermo also said to be keen on signing the Argentine.
