Serie A side become latest club in the running for the Argentine, with Premier League sides, Barcelona and Real Madrid also believed to be interested
Roma have set their sights on Palermo attacking midfielder Javier Pastore, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Serie A side are on the verge of a takeover and the new owners are determined to build a new and successful team.
They have been linked with a number of big names in the past few weeks and Pastore now seems to be one of their main targets in the transfer market.
The 21-year-old has been one of Palermo's star players in the 2010-11 campaign and the Argentina international is continually being linked with a move to a bigger club.
Roma reportedly face stiff competition from clubs such as Manchester City, Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid in the race for Pastore's services.
It appears unlikely that their attempts to lure Pastore away from his current club will be successful, however, as Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini has made it clear that they are eager to hold on to the playmaker for at least one more year, while Pastore himself seems to be keen to stay put as well.
