Mario Balotelli & Maicon are important players for Inter - Rafael Benitez
Benitez sounds optimistic in relation to the futures of his stars...
By Salvatore Landolina
Inter coach Rafael Benitez maintains both Mario Balotelli and Maicon are very important to his plans for next season, suggesting they could stay amid interest from a plethora of clubs.
Manchester United and Manchester City are said to be turning their focus onto the striker, whereas Real Madrid are still unsure whether to increase their £21 million offer to a more acceptable £25m wall-breaker for Maicon.
Yet Benitez believes both men can stay, but he is aware transfer decisions also involve Marco Branca and Massimo Moratti.
"At this point these players are Inter players and I am happy with them because both are quality players," Benitez told Sky Sport Italia after a 90-minute training session on Tuesday afternoon.
"Our mentality here is to win and for now our first objective is the Italian Super Cup. Then we will see about the Champions League."
Despite his break in ties with Liverpool, Benitez expressed concern with Fernando Torres' latest injury, which could see him out for up to two months.
"I am angry for the injury he sustained in the last game [the World Cup final], but this is football," he concluded.
