The Bavarians were on the receiving end of a resounding loss to Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal final, and the veteran trainer admits his side were second best throughout the encounter
A Robert Lewandowski hat-trick, plus goals from Shinji Kagawa and Mats Hummels handed BVB an emphatic win over their Bundesliga rivals to complete a domestic double for the reigning league champions.
After the match, Heynckes had no grumbles with the result in the decisive clash at the Olympiastadion and was highly critical of his side's performance on the night.
"We cannot complain," Heynckes told reporters. "Our entire defensive play was disastrous. We have only ourselves to blame. We did not deserve to win.
"That said, we have a very major goal in mind: the Champions League final. By then we should have all recovered from the shock [of this defeat].
"This was a very different game."
