Team Of The Week:

Round 26

Table/Results

GOALKEEPER

Bernd LENO
Leverkusen
TOTW Apps: 6

On Saturday, young goalkeeping rivals Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Bernd Leno met, and it was the Leverkusen man who took a big step towards establishing himself as Germany's best Under-21 shot-stopper. Although he was on the losing side, the ex-Stuttgart keeper made several key saves and commanded the penalty area with poise beyond his years. And unlike his rival, he didn't make any mistakes.

DEFENDERS

SOKRATIS
Bremen
TOTW Apps: 4

Sebastian LANGKAMP
Augsburg
TOTW Apps: 1

Philipp LAHM
Bayern
TOTW Apps: 5

Like Leno, Sokratis was not part of a winning side but nonetheless played well enough individually to earn his spot in the Team of the Week. The Bremen defender had Robert Lewandowski shackled for most of the 90 minutes in Dortmund.

Augsburg were the first team this calendar year to keep Mohamed Zidan off the score sheet, and Langkamp deserves much of the credit for ending the Egyptian striker's six-game scoring run. The centre-back also chipped in with a goal as FCA edged Mainz 2-1.

Four Bayern players are honoured in this week's best XI, and Lahm plays the deepest of all, at least on the line-up sheet. The captain was a dynamic presence in defence and as an auxiliary attacker, and he formed a brilliant partnership with Robben on the right flank as the Bavarians beat Hertha 6-0 in Berlin.

MIDFIELDERS

Lewis HOLTBY
Schalke
TOTW Apps: 3

Having recovered from a nasty injury, Holtby signalled his return to form with a brilliant "between the lines" display in central midfield. He covered in deep areas and distributed the ball expertly, and he also bombed forward to help in attack, assisting and scoring a goal apiece.

Arjen ROBBEN
Bayern
TOTW Apps: 4

Thomas MULLER
Bayern
TOTW Apps: 4

Franck RIBERY
Bayern
TOTW Apps: 7

Bayern Munich trio Robben, Muller, and Ribery form this week's attacking midfield after playing a hand in each of their team's six goals against Hertha Berlin. The Dutchman had a hat-trick, the Frenchman had an assist and won two penalties, and the German scored, set up another, and earned a spot-kick.

FORWARDS

Marco REUS
Monchengladbach
TOTW Apps: 10

Mario MANDZUKIC
Wolfsburg
TOTW Apps: 1

Vedad IBISEVIC
Stuttgart
TOTW Apps: 3

After a disappointing spell in recent weeks, Reus returns for his 10th appearance thanks to his brilliant display against Leverkusen. The future Dortmund man scored and gave a perfect assist as Gladbach defeated their biggest rivals for a top-four spot, moving 11 points clear of fifth-places Leverkusen.

Wolfsburg forward Mandzukic makes his season debut in the Best XI after a brilliant display against Nurnberg. The Croatian scored the equaliser for his side, then twice assisted Patrick Helmes as his team emerged 3-1 winners.

Ibisevic
makes his third appearance of the season after scoring a double in a game of great personal importance: the goals came against his former club, Hoffenheim.
