Guangzhou Evergrande are reportedly keen on signing Borussia Dortmund striker Lucas Barrios.

The Paraguay international was expected to leave the Westfalenstadion during the January transfer window but a proposed move to Fulham collapsed and it was fellow forward Mohamed Zidan who ultimately departed, with the Egyptian rejoining Mainz on deadline day.

However, according to China’s Football, Guangzhou Evergrande are now preparing a bid for Barrios, who picked up an injury while on Copa America duty before the start of the Bundesliga season, and has since struggled to reclaim his starting berth at Dortmund because of the form of Polish striker Robert Lewandowski.

It is also claimed that Guangzhou are also considering moves for Bayer Leverkusen duo Gonzalo Castro and Stefan Kiessling and Fulham's Bryan Ruiz.

Leverkusen would most likely be willing to listen to offers for both players as neither the versatile Castro, who can play in defence or midfield, nor forward Kiessling are first-team regulars. Ruiz, meanwhile, only arrived at Craven Cottage last summer from Twente.
