Breno's turbulent season at Bayern Munich is set to continue following the news that the Brazilian must undergo knee surgery.
The 22-year-old tore his anterior cruciate ligament almost two years ago, before suffering an injury to his meniscus at the tail end of last season.
Breno is yet to feature this term amid police suspicion that he had set fire to his own house, and although he had hoped to make a physical and mental comeback, he has been dealt another blow by the news that his knee will require another operation.
"The knee has responded to stress. A game would have done no favours for Breno," Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes told Sport Bild.
Breno's contract expires at the end of this season.
