Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes cryptic on Xherdan Shaqiri link
The Bundesliga giants were noncommittal about the Swiss youngster, with Heynckes stating only that some players at Basel stand out
By Luis Mira
German sources claimed earlier on Monday that Bayern were closing in on the Switzerland international after a fee in the region of €10-12 million had been agreed by the two clubs.
"I have watched Basel play," Heynckes is quoted as saying by Suddeutsche Zeitung. "It is clear that some players stand out."
Bayern are understood to be on the lookout for a new player to add to their attacking options after missing out on Borussia Monchengladbach's Marco Reus, who has agreed to join Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.
Questioned about the reports, Bayern media director Markus Horwick was just as cryptic as Heynckes, saying: "If there were something to say, we would say it."
