Bayern Munich coach Jupp Heynckes has received some disturbing news from the treatment table in the build-up toward Saturday's Bundesliga match away against Hamburg as winger Franck Ribery is being plagued by back problems.

The France international was unable to participate in Wednesday's training session due to the knock, and Heynckes has confirmed that Ribery has a back injury.

"Franck is encountering some back problems," the Bayern coach was quoted as saying by TZ.

Despite the attacker's absence on Wednesday, Bayern are hopeful that Ribery will be recovered in time for the clash with HSV as the winger is expected to resume regular training action on either Thursday or Friday.

Ribery has been in excellent form for Bayern in the 2011-12 campaign, scoring eight goals in 18 Bundesliga appearances, and assisting six more.
