thumbnail Hello,

Vice-captain has made his long-awaited return following a clavicular fracture sustained in early November, while Franck Ribery misses out due to suspension

Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has been passed fit to play from the start of his team's first match of the 2012 calendar year, as the league leaders visit Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Germany international was sidelined from November 2 until training resumed earlier in January following the winter break, and in recent days has been troubled by a knock to his knee. However, he is back and ready to play from the start.

Franck Ribery is not as fortunate as he misses out due to suspension for a red card picked up in his side's 3-0 win over Koln in the final match of the first half of the season. Thomas Muller will fill in his position on the left wing, while Toni Kroos is promoted to central attacking midfield to make room for Schweinsteiger behind him.

For Gladbach, recent acquisiton Alexander Ring has been omitted from Lucien Favre's line-up, as Roman Neustadter and Havard Nordtveit form the holding midfield pair. Missing from the line-up is centre-back Dante, who is suspended for accumulated yellow cards.

Kick-off at the Borussia-Park is scheduled for 20.30CET.
