A Munich court grants the Brazilian defender bail after he was arrested on suspicion of starting a fire at his home during September
Bayern Munich defender Breno is expected to be released from prison on bail. The 21-year-old was arrested on suspicion of arson and was remanded in custody.The fire to his villa caused €1.5 million [£1.3m] of damage. A statement released by the Munich district court confirmed his bail.
The note reads: "Today, the Munich district court upheld the warrant against the accused Breno Borges in the course of a review of the remand but decided to release him on parole at the request of the defending lawyer."
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge was delighted at hearing news of Breno's bail application being granted by the court.
"We are very happy to hear that Breno was released from remand earlier today so that he can return to his family and the club. We appreciate that [lawyer] Werner Leitner and the court treated this case with fairness and tactfulness," said Rummenigge.
Breno moved to Bayern Munich in December 2007 from Sao Paulo.
