PSG over tough period - Cavani

Laurent Blanc's side's form had stuttered over recent months, but the Uruguayan feels they are back to their best after winning the Coupe de la Ligue
Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani believes his side's recent struggles are behind them after leading them to the Coupe de la Ligue.

The French champions had exited the Champions League on away goals to Chelsea but bounced back on Saturday, with the Uruguayan scoring twice in a 2-1 final win over Olympique Lyonnais.

Cavani was happy to have been the hero for the club, but was quick to credit the whole team after they won the cup.

"The Coupe de la Ligue was an important goal for us. We wanted to get out of this difficult period with a good win," he told reporters.

"We are very happy to have done that. I'm very happy to have scored and I thank my team-mates."

Defender Christophe Jallet, meanwhile, admitted that he was disappointed that his side let Alexandre Lacazette pull one back after Cavani's first-half double.

"It was a match like the one against Chelsea. We waited until that 87th minute had gone by! They didn't have too many chances.

"It's a shame to have conceded that goal, we gave ourselves a scare for nothing. Right from kick-off you could feel the tension. We were frustrated.

"We didn't know what to do after we scored, but we played with freedom and we won."
