The France international riled the Italian coach by leaving the Stade Louis II without permission ahead of Sunday's Ligue 1 clash with Lille

Claudio Ranieri has welcomed Eric Abidal back into his Monaco squad after the defender apologised for his walk-out at the weekend.

The France international left the Stade Louis II before Sunday's Ligue 1 meeting with Lille, reportedly after learning that he would not be in the starting line-up.

However, Ranieri has now confirmed that Abidal will feature in Wednesday's Coupe de France quarter-final against Lens after apologising for his actions during a sit-down that was also attended by club vice-president Vadim Vasilyev.

"There is no problem with Abidal," the Italian coach is quoted as saying by Eurosport. "There was a meeting with Vadim. [Abidal] apologised. It is finished.

"He will play. I'm not resentful, but his apology was necessary.

"I do not expect this attitude, even if sometimes I can understand it, but the captain must always be with the team."

Abidal, who joined Monaco from Barcelona last summer, also took to the internet to publicly express his remorse over the incident, tweeting: "[I've had a] discussion with the vice-president and coach. Everything is back in order. Apology to the players."
