The Brazil international could have left the Parc des Princes on a free transfer this summer but he has now decided to commit himself to the Ligue 1 champions until 2015Maxwell has agreed a one-year contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain, the club have announced.
The Brazilian defender's previous deal was set to expire this summer, but he will remain at the Parc des Princes for at least another season.
“PSG are is pleased to announce the one-year extension of the contract of Maxwell to 2015,” les Parisiens confirmed via their official Twitter account.
Maxwell, who arrived in the French capital from Barcelona in 2012, played a major part in helping PSG claim the Ligue 1 title last season and is on course to collect another winners' medal this term, with Laurent Blanc's men currently five points clear at the top of the table.
PSG also look on course to progress to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after they registered a 4-0 win at Bayer Leverkusen in their last-16 first-leg clash.
Versatile left-back Maxwell said: "I am very proud of the president Nasser Al Khelaifi's confidence in me.
"I will continue to give my all for the club and our supporters to pay back this confidence."
