Paris Saint-Germain defender Maxwell believes that Zlatan Ibrahimovic is fully deserving of the "circus" constantly surrounding him.

The Swede scored twice as Laurent Blanc's men defeated Bayer Leverkusen 4-0 on Tuesday to take his tally for the season to 41 goals in as many games for club and country.

The Brazilian can understand why his long-time team-mate, with whom he has played at four different clubs, has always dominated the agenda.

"It was always been a circus around Zlatan since the time we played together at Ajax," he told Goal.

"We were just 19 then. Zlatan always gets a lot of attention. He deserves it. He is a great player with a beatiful career. He seems to get better every year.

"I've known him for 13 years and he has definitely changed. He is more mature than during our time in Amsterdam.

"Zlatan always has had the same drive. He still surprises me. The second goal was really amazing. Unbelievable. Sometime you don't believe what you see when he scores."

Meanwhile, PSG right-back Gregory van der Wiel has also lauded Ibrahimovic's influence, saying his team can always rely on the former AC Milan man to deliver.

"He always scores for us. It doesn't bother him that everyone is expecting him to score. Zlatan is world class. As a team-mate and a football fan, I enjoy what he does every time.

"It's really nice to have a striker like him in your team. But we're getting used to his exciting goals!"
