Ranieri bemoans Monaco's loss of momentum

The principality side have dropped five points in their last two Ligue 1 outings but their Italian coach is hoping that they can bounce back at Toulouse on Sunday

Claudio Ranieri has called on his Monaco players to prove their mettle after losing momentum in recent weeks.

Les Rouge et Blanc have dropped five points in their last two Ligue 1 outings, losing 2-1 at home to Valenciennes on December 20 before then drawing at Montpellier on January 10.

Consequently, Ranieri is now hoping that Monaco, who trail leaders Paris Saint-Germain by five points, can kickstart their title bid at Toulouse on Sunday.

"I think that our momentum was broken during their holidays," the Italian told reporters. "A lot of time passed in it's been difficult for us to get back on track.

"But I think that this is a good time for us to show our character, our determination to show everyone what we can do."

Monaco's meeting with Toulouse is scheduled to kick off at 17:00CET.
