The Italian coach feels the principality side were fortunate not to suffer another defeat after a disappointing showing on Friday night
Monaco head coach Claudio Ranieri has conceded that Evian deserved to beat his team in the wake of their 1-1 Ligue 1 draw on Friday.
Ranieri's team missed the opportunity to move into second position in the table after coming from behind to claim a point through through a first-half Radamel Falcao equaliser.
Bbut the Italian was not too disappointed with the final result as he feels Monaco were fortunate not to lose the match.
"Evian deserved more, so it is a good point for us," Ranieri said at the post-match press conference.
"To be honest, if Evian had won the game 3-1, that would have been acceptable based on their chances. We played very badly.
"We hosted Evian after they've just won three games in a row, so they had a lot of confidence in their team. They played the game we were expecting, staying tight at the back, waiting for a chance to counterattack."
Monaco moved up to 26 points with the draw but remain behind second-placed Lille on goal difference, while reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain (on 28 points) are top of Ligue 1.
Both Lille and PSG have yet to play this weekend.
