Paris Saint-Germain will be without defender Alex when they face Toulouse as he continues to recover from a thigh injury.
The Brazilian missed the 1-1 draw with Monaco after picking up a muscle strain in the 4-1 Champions League win over Olympiakos but coach Laurent Blanc is confident that he will be able to call on the former Chelsea man for the following clash with Benfica.
"Alex is unable to face Toulouse. We will still give him a few days to see if he's available to face Benfica. Thiago Silva is continuing his recovery," the PSG boss told a press conference on Friday.
Blanc will be able to call upon winger Jeremy Menez for Saturday's meeting at Parc des Princes, however, with the Frenchman's return to fitness allowing his coach the chance to tinker with the side ahead their midweek commitments.
"Jeremy [Menez] is back in the squad. We hope his physical problems are over and he can fight for some playing time," he continued.
"On Saturday, the team will be different than it was against Valenciennes. All coaches understand this puzzle. We would like to leave some players to rest but leaving out major players can unbalance the team. We'll work with the players available without compromising our flow or style of play."
Blanc is confident that his side can recover their best form after they laboured to a win over Valenciennes on Wednesday, although he acknowledges that securing maximum points is the only goal at this stage of the season.
"We have a busy schedule with the Champions League. We suffered in Valenciennes. We played bad and we're aware of that but we won and, if we keep getting three points playing badly, it'll be good for the championship," he added.
"Against Monaco, we contributed to a very good encounter. However, not every game at Parc des Princes is so open. Will Toulouse come with the idea of playing five defenders? I don't know. In any case, we'll have to attack the team because they are very well organised. This I know."
