The 26-year-old French international has been ruled out of action after suffering a fracture, just as the forward hit his best form

Olympique de Marseille striker Andre-Pierre Gignac says he "has a lot of bad luck", after breaking his foot in the 1-0 defeat to Troyes on Sunday.

With five goals in nine games for L’OM this season, Gignac has been in top form, with the injury an untimely blow for a side that topped Ligue 1 before their latest result this weekend.

The 26-year-old was understandably downbeat and though he acknowledged injuries are part of football, he was upset with his latest misfortune.

“This is not good news. It’s like that, it’s part of life as a footballer but I have a lot of bad luck, and it’s doubly so because we lost tonight,” Gignac told OM.net after the game.

His coach Elie Baup confirmed the injury and revealed that a time-frame for his recovery was not yet known.

“This is another negative point but we do not yet know how long he will be out for,” he added.

The defeat leaves Marseille in second place in Ligue 1, level on 19 points with leaders Paris Saint-Germain who top the table due to their superior goal difference.
