Debuchy move to Newcastle reliant on replacement, says Lille director

Frederic Paquet has revealed that the Ligue 1 outfit will not block the 26-year-old right-back's departure to greener pastures, should another player arrive in his stead
Mathieu Debuchy will be allowed to leave the club should Lille be able to find a suitable replacement for the France international.

The 26-year-old, who maintains that Newcastle are his preferred choice, is also of interest to Inter as well as Valencia.

"Mathieu has told us of his intention to leave the club," Lille director general Frederic Paquet said to Voix du Nord.

"We do not intend to put up a fight with the player over his decision. We like him, but as long as we can find a replacement of the same level, we will let him leave."

Debuchy broke into the first team as a youth player in 2003, on the way to amassing over 200 Ligue 1 appearances for Lille.
