Marseille sporting director Jose Anigo has revealed that the club will need to sell players before buying this summer and will look to promote youngsters into the first-team squad.
The French outfit recently appointed Elie Baup as their new coach after Didier Deschamps left Stade Velodrome amid reports of turmoil within the club.
And Anigo has confirmed that the Ligue 1 side will have to offload one of their big-name players if they are to bring in anyone new for the upcoming season.
"We must release a player before recruiting," he told Eurosport.
"But our young players will mesh nicely into the squad. It would be useless to look elsewhere for what you already have.
"The new philosophy of the club is to develop our academy."
Marseille finished the 2011-12 Ligue 1 season in a disappointing 10th place, but qualified for the Europa League thanks to their Coupe de la Ligue win.
