Marseille president Vincent Labrune already revealed earlier on Monday that the 31-year-old was on his way to Porto, and a transfer is now one step closer after both sides have agreed terms.
The Portuguese giants are expected to completed the move in the upcoming hours, with Gonzalez set to sign a two-and-a-half year deal with Porto.
Gonzalez previously wore the Porto jersey from 2005 until 2009, before leaving the Europa League holders for Marseille.
The gifted midfielder quickly became a key player at OM and guided them to several trophies in his first two seasons.
However, he had lost his starting berth this term and was keen to move on in January.
