Paris Saint-Germain set to replace Antoine Kombouare with Rafael Benitez - report
According to reports, the French giants' hierarchy have decided to relieve their current boss and hand the reins to the former Liverpool manager, despite end of winless run
Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly sacked coach Antoine Kombouare and are set to appoint Rafael Benitez as his replacement.
Television channel Al-Jazeera claims that after lengthy discussions between board members at the Parc des Princes over the weekend, they have opted to dispose of the ex-Valenciennes trainer, as they prepare to appoint the 51-year-old.
Benitez has been without a club since his dismissal from Inter in December 2010, despite lifting a Club World Cup title, but enjoyed some success at the helm of Liverpool between 2004 and 2010, winning a Champions League in 2005 and an FA Cup in 2006.
Kombouare led PSG to fourth place in Ligue 1 and Europa League qualification last season, but has seemingly failed to meet the expectations of the Qatar Investment Authority, who seized control of the club during the summer and invested heavily, bringing in stars like Javier Pastore and Jeremy Menez.
The French club ended a run of three straight defeats on Sunday with a 3-2 win over Auxerre to stay second in the table.
