The Manchester United winger, who was ruled out of the Community Shield victory over Wigan, has been deemed not fit enough for the international friendly on Wednesday
The Manchester United winger missed his side's 2-0 Community Shield victory over Wigan on Sunday through injury.
And the Football Association have now confirmed the former Aston Villa man will not be fit in time to feature for Roy Hodgson's side.
"Following discussions between club England medical staff and their counterparts at the club [Manchester United], it was clear that Young would not be ready for the match with Scotland on Wednesday," an FA statement reads.
Wayne Rooney also missed United's victory with at Wembley with a shoulder injury, but it is not yet clear whether or not the striker will feature for England against Scotland.
The FA have not yet indicated if there will be a replacement for Young in Roy Hodgson's squad.
