Tottenham defender Kyle Walker has spoken of his disappointment following the news of Fabio Capello’s resignation as England manager.

Following a meeting with FA chiefs David Bernstein and Alex Horne, Capello called a premature end to his tenure as England boss his with contract set to end following the conclusion of Euro 2012.

Capello had been angered by The FA’s decision to remove John Terry as the team’s captain, blasting the move on Italian radio; something that disappointed the national side’s governing body and Walker is the latest player to express his sadness at the news.

“Gutted to see Fabio Capello go,” he said on his official Twitter account. “He put a lot of trust in me and gave me my first cap just want to say a big thanks really..”

The 21-year-old was handed his debut for the national side by Capello back on November 12, as a substitute in the 1-0 victory over world champions Spain at Wembley, with his first start coming three days later, as England overcame Sweden by the same scoreline, picking up the Man of the Match award in the process.
