Young goalkeeper benefited from injuries...Arsenal goalkeeper James Shea was handed a surprise chance to impress manager Fabio Capello after he trained with England on Tuesday.
Shea, 19, is a highly rated shot stopper in the Gunners' reserve set up and has been earmarked for future first team appearances. With the Three Lions training at London Colney and Fulham's David Stockdale ruled out through injury, Shea was chosen to fill in the numbers.
England's goalkeeping options have been further depleted by minor injuries to Birmingham City's Ben Foster and West Bromwich Albion's Scott Carson which prevented them taking part.
It is not yet known if fresh blood will be called up to fill the gap if the players continue to struggle for the upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Switzerland.
