Stopper ready for Fabio Capello call-up...West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Scott Carson says he is determined to prove his England critics wrong.
The 24-year-old was England's first choice shot-stopper before his calamitous error in the 2-1 defeat to Croatia cost the Three Lions a place at Euro 2008.
However, Carson played a pivotal role in the Baggies' promotion charge last season and with Fabio Capello promising to bring in some new faces to the England squad, the former Liverpool 'keeper is confident of a recall.
"Being in the Premier League can only help my England chances," Carson told the Birmingham Mail.
"I said last season that I want to be the number one here for as long as I can.
"Hopefully I can have a good season here this season and if England come calling, I will be ready.
"But my first priority is to be number one here, playing well and being consistent.
"Mr Capello has picked me in the past, that always helps, I have been in his thoughts."
