Pick Your Team: England and Liverpool legend John Barnes urges Fabio Capello to drop Emile Heskey for Joe Cole against Slovenia

Time for players to get behind manager...

England and Liverpool legend John Barnes has urged our misfiring players to support Fabio Capello but would like to see the Italian should drop Emile Heskey and recall Joe Cole for Wednesday's make or break match with Slovenia.

Barnes, who won 79 caps for England and played at the 1986 and 1990 World Cups, told Goal.com UK: "Fabio Capello is one of the best managers in the world and this is not the time to be questioning his methods on the back of two disappointing results - it was all fine when we were winning. Let's believe in Capello as he is the man we have empowered to do the job.

"I don't know why he hasn't picked Joe Cole yet as he played well in his last two matches for England. Maybe it's a training issue or maybe they fell out but from a footballing point of view he has got to be in that team."

The 46-year-old, whose reprisal of his famous World in Motion rap in an advert for official England snack supplier MARS has helped the song undergo a chart revival, today names the team which he feels will get England back to winning ways.

Do you agree with the line-up selected by Barnes? Let us know who you think should start for England in the comment box below...

David James

Barnes says: "He had a decent game against Algeria.
James did everything he was supposed to do and looked calm."

Glen Johnson

"Glen needs to get forward more and be an attacking threat against Slovenia."

Matthew Upson

"More mobile than Dawson so you can understand why Capello has gone for him."

John Terry

"Needs to put 'big mistake' behind him and be galvanised. Still such a key player."

Ashley Cole

"They haven't seen the best of him yet - would benefit from having Joe Cole ahead of him."

Frank Lampard

"England need him arriving in the box late, like he does at Chelsea. Not easy to replicate club form for country - I did not find it easy to adapt in my playing days."

Gareth Barry

"He is not amongst the best players in the world in his position but we do not have a Busquets, Melo or Mascherano. Does an important job."

Aaron Lennon

"Suffering as team is not playing him in enough. Should still start as Wright-Phillips not much better."

Steven Gerrard

"We need him in this position drifting left and right. Must get forward more and link up with Rooney."

Joe Cole

"I don't know why Capello hasn't picked him - maybe there's more to it. But I would as he will help us keep the ball."

Wayne Rooney

"Pressure is getting to Rooney as our system is too reliant on him to perform.
He can't do it all by himself - it's not about individuals, it's all about the team."
