QPR midfielder Barton denies Fleetwood Town deal

The 29-year-old will be suspended for the first 12 games of next season and has been training with the League Two outfit, making a 45-minute appearance in a pre-season friendly
QPR midfielder Joey Barton has denied that he has agreed to join Fleetwood Town on loan.

The midfielder joined the Cod Army for pre-season training in July to improve his fitness ahead of the new Premier League season and reports suggested that he would move there temporarily for six months.

Barton was slapped with a 12-match ban for his various misdemeanours on the final day of the season, as the Hoops lost 3-2 to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

"BBC news jumping the gun a bit,'' said Barton on his Twitter account.

"I've not signed for Fleetwood. Just currently enjoying training there..."

As well as enjoying training, he has also made one apperance for Fleetwood during their pre-season campaign, featuring for 45 minutes during their 1-0 victory over Kilmarnock.

Following his actions against City the ex-Newcastle and Machester City man was also stripped of the QPR captaincy and fined six weeks wages.
